Leandro (Lany) Maniwang Tapay is a native of Balilihan, Bohol, Philippines. His pursuit of knowledge earned him a bachelor’s degree in education with a major in English and Spanish, along with a minor in social sciences. He continued his theological studies abroad and expanded his expertise by earning a master’s degree in guidance and counseling at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

He began by imparting knowledge of religious courses at Cebu Boys’ Town in Cebu City, Philippines, fostering spiritual growth among students. Transitioning to the United States, he undertook the position of teaching Latin and Religion Courses at Saint Mary High School in North Dakota, where he also served as the dean of boys at Saint Mary’s boarding school.

His commitment to holistic education extended to Central Catholic School in Toledo, Ohio, USA, where he taught Christian Meditation courses, emphasizing the importance of contemplative practices. His dedication to education and guidance reached new heights as the guidance director at London High School in London, Ohio, demonstrating his proficiency in counseling and support for students.

In a testament to his dedication to education accessibility, Lany engaged in moonlighting as he taught philosophy courses at Urbana University’s outreach program at the London Prison Facility, showcasing a commitment to extending education to diverse settings.

Additionally, Leandro took on the significant role of Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States, Diocese of Columbus, demonstrating leadership in fostering mission-driven initiatives within the diocese.
